I still could not believe it is now 2021! I keep writing 2020 every time I put a date on my work. It seems that the days are just flying by in a blink of an eye!
Oh, yes, the year 2020. Who can forget it?
A lot has already been said about this particular year. Almost everyone, if not all, across the globe, had been greatly affected by the dreadful occurrence of the recent coronavirus, COVID 19, which originated in Wuhan, China, and had become a pandemic that nearly crippled the world's economy.
Whether you believe or not, the conspiracies surrounding the 'creation' of this horrible disease, there is no denying that this single virus has made us reassess our lives. It forced us to restrict our actions in ways we have never imagined in our previous living years.
Sadly, many had lost their lives worldwide to this disease, and still, many more could. It made this year the most challenging for some of us and the most horrible times for those directly affected.
If, like me, you've been feeling deflated by all the overall effect of this pandemic for the last few months, why not try to make a list of the negative and positive experiences you had during this year. It may just surprise you as it did to me.
The year 2020 had been a mixture of negatives and positives for me. The adverse effects caused by the Covid 19 virus was mainly the restrictions imposed by the government, whereby I could not possibly do what I wanted to do like before the pandemic. Millions of people felt the same, of course.
Along with this pandemic that I had to deal with were fall-outs with some family and friends. I suppose as you grow older, your patience and tolerance with 'dramas' in life decline, and you want to be who you are regardless of what other people think of you.
On the upside, the year 2020 brought me many joys, good things, and opportunities, which I am very grateful for, no matter how small they may seem to others.
I turned fifty-years old in June 2020, a half-century mark which I am most grateful for, that sadly, many had not reached. I was able to create my website, which I am using to share my thoughts with you.
Most importantly, I did not lose my job during the pandemic as I was able to work from home.
Surprisingly, even during this challenging year, I was able to sell my land in the Philippines, which enabled me to pay debts and make some improvements to the house. I was also able to help with the repair and modification of my mother's house to suit her needs as a frail elderly.
During the Lockdown and Level 4 Restriction periods, I explored several beauty spots in and around my area and learned more about nature.
And this year, we managed to go away for weekend breaks before the Lockdown, and during Level 3 Restrictions when hospitality services were open.
I feel like I had more to be glad about than be gloomed about after all!
And lastly, the light at the end of the tunnel has started with regards to fighting this COVID 19 disease, as we now have two vaccines – the Pfizer and the Oxford & AstraZeneca vaccines currently rolled out in the UK.
There's still a big fight to be had, but HOPE for 2021 has lit up!!!
Till here for now, until next Wednesday. Keep well, and stay safe!
